"I want to touch people with my art. I want them to say 'he feels deeply, he feels tenderly."

Vincent van Gogh-Bio

Vincent van Gogh was born in Groot-Zundest, Holland on March 30, 1853. Van Gogh is considered the greatest Dutch painter after Rembrandt. Van Gogh moved to Paris in 1886 to join his brother Théo, the manager of Goupil's gallery. In Paris, van Gogh studied with Cormon, Money and others and began to lighten his very dark palette and to paint in the short brushstrokes of the Impressionists. Van Gogh produced all of his 900 paintings and 1100 drawings in 10 years before developing mental illness. Van Gogh's influence on expressionism, fauvism and early abstraction was enormous, and can be seen in many other aspects of 20th-century art. The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is dedicated to Van Gogh's work and that of his contemporaries. Vincent van Gogh die July 29, 1890.
